alone in the garden

what are you going to do when you are alone in a garden?

my mom would tend the flowers, fertilize the soil, talk to each leaf and petal.

my brother would sweep off the dry leaves because my mom would ask him to.

my friend would bring a picnic basket with all the foods imaginable, dress up thematically, read a book, and after half an hour call me to join her because she can’t stand being alone too long.

my boyfriend would listen to his iPod and start running around the garden and after 20 minutes check on his bloomberg and blackberry at the same time because both his business and girlfriend are equally important.

i would float around the flowers, listen to their stories, be oblivious to my stunning beauty but  stunned by theirs. i would learn to dance the flowers-in-the-garden dance and teach them how to dance the flap-your-wings-and-fly dance. because i heard sometimes they envy the butterflies.
